I just ordered a new ProMaster HGX filter to protect my nikon 24-70 lens. I've always used the clear ProMaster on other lens. The company sent me a ProMaster UV instead of the clear. Is it worth the hassel of an exchange or just use the UV they sent.

I can't really say how much the hassle is worth to you, but while the downsides to a UV filter are fairly small there is no compensating upside.
At the prices I'm seeing, either Promaster is more expensive than the Nikon NC, B+W 007M MRC, or Hoya HD. They are more than twice as expensive as the Marumi Super DHG. So personally? I'd return it and get one of those.
