How problematic would be replacing a PL-mount installed on an older Nikon lens with a standard AiS mount?
I know the opposite solution is possible (albeit quite expensive). There are various adapters to replace Nikon standard F-mount with various professional adapters and knock-offs for use on cinematographic "brains". But I cannot find anywhere if a lens that has already been fitted with a PL-mount can be restored back to a normal Ai-S. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest giving a cine company such as Abel Cine or SRB Photographic a call. Looking at a 300mm f/2, perhaps?
One of the biggest mistakes a photographer can make is to look at the real world and cling to the vain hope that next time his film will somehow bear a closer resemblance to it. - Galen Rowell
