I couldn't decide where to post, since I'm new to SLR's (<12 months) I thought this might be the right area?

I have been sitting at home watching Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels tonight and noticed that the colours in the film are tinted. It got me thinking, as this is seems to be an effect many magazines use (especially in fahsion stuff). I guess some of this may be achieved by digital post-production, but can I achieve the same results just with my SLR? Does anyone do this regularly and if so what specific filters/lighting do you use.

Sorry if this is in the wrong area. It was this site that made me buy my Nikon F80 (which I love).
