Hi everyone, my name is Tony and I would like some opinions on what this might be and if this is going to cost me a grip of money to repair. I just recently noticed a greenish horizontal line (banding?) going across my images, here is the link/image
this appears in all of my images (RAW or JPEG), its visible in my LCD display on my camera as well by zooming in. I just noticed it today after taking some night time pictures. I thought it was just recently, but I looked back to all my past photos, THEY ALL HAVE IT. It is just more apparent now for some reason. The higher the ISO the more visible the line is. Its in the same spot on every images that I have.
I got the camera last year 08 in July... I should of caught this a few months back but it wasn't as apparent as it is now. I just examined all my pictures for the past year and it is clearly there. I believe my warranty has expired.. any help or suggest in fixing this problem? I have a few little events to go to this month and I need it for night time shots but the horizontal line is just killing the images..
I'm sorry, but it sure appears to be an artifact of the sensor. I have no idea of how expensive it would be to repair but I can't imagine that you are the first person to have this type of problem. I trust someone can advise on the repair possibilities.
Well, this is a long shot, (I see you are in California), some credit cards double the warranty up to an additional year if you purchased it on that card. I deliberately bought my D300s on one of my cards that did that because for some goofy reason, you can't get the Nikon extended warranty in Washington and somewhere else. I checked with Nikon - you really can't buy their extended warranty here in Washington. Very odd. Anyway, see if that applies to you - you may be covered if you used a card that extends the warranty. It sure looks like a sensor issue
Got a response back from Nikon, it is a sensor problem and I have to send it in.. =(
But for some reason, after all my resets, my Memory card format and a few more resets (wishful fixing), I manage to get rid of the line at 400 ISO and below.. it is still there at anything above... anyone else with the problem or know anybody with this problem.. I know I am not alone in this boat.. =)
