Okay. This is me thinking (bad idea - yet again) of a funny (potentially funny) question.
Would you trade your D40/D40X/D50/D60 for? If you could/would what would you trade in for anyway? Just curious.
For me, I would NEVER trade it for anything. Even for a D90. Love this one to bits. It's too much fun to snap without it (for me that is). If I have a bit of money I'll buy the D90 but I won't trade it in. But that's my take. Anyone out there feels the same way?
I have a D300, but I also still have my D50 and use it a lot. For most purposes you couldn't tell which camera the photo came from, and the D50 has the advantage of being smaller and lighter. (And, it's the biggest and heaviest of the D40/50/60 the original post asked about!)
The D50 was my first DSLR, and at least part of what I like about it (outside of the fact that it's a great camera, period) is that it's been a lot of places with me and taken a lot of photos I really like, so carrying it with me is almost like taking an old friend along.
I don't have any of the bodies you list but for a straight up trade for a D3X, D3, D700, or even a D300 I would get one. I would not get rid of my D70S for the same reason as Larry. Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!
I am looking to sell my d-50 body to get a d-90 or d-300. I don't have the need for 2 bodies and my kids and wife aren't interested in using it. It has been a great body to use, but I want faster FPS for sports shots.
You won't get much selling your D50. Are you sure you wouldn't rather keep it as a second camera? I bought a D300, but still have and still use my D50. In most circumstances you couldn't tell which camera took the photo. But sports is one area where I always use my D300.
