Zoom Changes Aperture in Manual Mode
This is beginning to irritate me. I just began using the D70s (the Holy Grail) last week. My usual shooting is done in Manual mode. The lens I am using is a Promaster XR EDO AF 18-200mm. When I zoom in the aperture changes to a smaller one. If I have it set to 5.0 or 5.6 the further I zoom in the higher it goes. 6.0 +. Same for lower. Is this normal? I have a friend who shoots with a Canon 30D and hers does not do this at all. And if there is a setting to stop this I have not been able to find it.

Answered my own question. I used to shoot with a N80 and a Ricoh for B&W. Then I got out of it all, got back into it recently with a Koninca-Minolta Dimage Z5. Great camera, but not a DSLR. I forgot the 1:3.5-6.3. Guess I will have to get a couple of fixed length or wider range lenses.
