I would recommend go to the WEDDING forum and reading a lot of the posts there. There are numerous excellent discussions on this very topic.
Some people say the read quite a bit, but unfortunately they comprehend very little.

if your budget is under 1000. then go with the 18-200VR but if you dont mind spending more get the 24-70 f2.8 and the 70-200VR f2.8. And if you want the perfect wedding lense go with a 17-55DX F2.8 it is possible to get one for around 900

In low light situations "Fast Glass" (f/2.8 or faster) is the price of admission.
A very good choice for low light shooting is the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D ($108.95). It is also a great bargain at just over $100.00.
The Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G ED IF AF-S DX ($1199.95) is a staple lens for wedding pro's. It will also work for portraits and sports if you are close.
For sports in low light or indoors the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED IF AF-S VR ($1649.95) would be the first choice. It can also be used for weddings and portraits.
For portraits the Nikkor AF 85mm f/1.4D IF ($1024.95) is a superb choice.
Other choices would be Nikkor AF 35-70mm f/2.8D (used approx. $400.00), Nikkor AF 80-200mm f/2.8D ED IF ($950.00), Nikkor AF 85mm f/1.8D ($395.00), Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.4D ($289.95) ect.
If you fill in the rest of your user profile including the equipment tab it will help us help you better.
Good Luck and Enjoy your new D80.
