I have decided that if the D70 image quality tests are favourable, I will be putting down my money for the camera with 18-70mm lens. At $1300 US seems like a real deal for what the outfit should promise to offer.
One thing I noticed is that the D70 does not have an option for an accessory vertical battery grip. Too bad, it would be nice. I have the MB-D100 grip for my D100 and use the vertical release feature a fair amount. I also feel that it makes the camera more comfortable to hold.
Do we know for certain that there will never be one? Does Nikon always announce the vertical grip at the same time as the body? Even the N75 has a grip, which apparently better than the one for the N80. This seems very surprising. Is it a cost issue, a technical issue or a marketing/model placement issue?
