On my lunch break, I stopped by ans saw a shelf-full of Nikon D80s. They were for sale, not just reserved by customers. I was pretty shocked. Pretty happy I didn't have my credit card on my. You know the impulse buy...
Oh yeah, I live in Takamatsu, Japan.

A reason they may be easier to find than the D200 was, is because Nikon may have been building up their inventory of D80s over the last few months to meet the initial demand. The D50 & D70S have been in short supply since April. Another reason could be that many with D50's or D70's don't feel a need to upgrade just yet (I certainly wouldn't). This is good news for prospective D80 buyers. Maybe we will see the price settle to $899 after the initial wave of buyers, just in time for Christmas.
