I am running into a problem with the D200 focusing in dim light. Happened to me at a school dance, and then again a month later taking portraits in a poorly lit living room. In both instances I was using a 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 VR zoom lens.

Can I get around this by using a faster lens like the 50mm 1.8? I'm thinking this might work as my understanding is that the lens focuses at maximum aperture.

Also, are there any other workarounds that would work.

Your comments / suggestions welcomed.

I started with nothing. I still have most of it
