The D200 looks great...but with a built in speedlight does that mean we have yet another dim viewfinder? I'll wait for the reviews of course, but this is a big weakness for my D70. I hope the D200 is a step up in that respect. I'll be waiting a few months before ordering mine. I want lots of reviews, images and bug-free reports. My D70 works like a charm in the meantime!
The viewfinder of D200 assuredly neither is small nor dim. In fact, it is slightly bigger than that of the D2X, and about the same level of brightness as well. I managed to focus my 50/1.2 on a D200 with ease and that under low light conditions, to put the observation in proper perspective even an F5 does the job less convincingly.
Bjorn~Thanks for your assurances. That is good news indeed. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts in the future. Any chance you care to comment on the AF speed, and how it would compare to a D70, D2X, or F100?
I was worried about how user-friendly the viewfinder would be. Now that that issue is put to rest, the only remaining question I have is how is the AF drive with non-AFS lenses? I.e., is it fast and quiet like the D2X, or slow and noisy like the D100?
