D200 will be here tomorrow from B&H! I am upgrading from a D70, which by the way, has been a terrific camera. I am really looking foward to the D200 with high expectations.
I was on the fence about taking the plunge, waiting on the price to come down a little more, but soccer season is starting this week and I can't wait any longer - I really want that 5 fps and the faster focusing system. For fall soccer I picked up the 70-200 VR and love it - I am expecting an improvement in focus speed with the upgrade to the D200.
Thanks to all on the forum for the info and tips that I have been reading over the last few months.
**Based on the all the recommendations on the forum, I picked up a spare battery as well. Purchased Nikon brand at Amazon for about $38 shipped.

I did the same and have the same lens and couldn't be happier. I loved my D70s and plan on putting it in a waterproof housing. Think about the battery grip. It's much more comfortable shooting portrait.
Steve Zissou: Merci, Cedric. Remind me, we'll send him a red cap and a Speedo...

Congrats!!! I love my D70s and D80, but wow... the D200 is truly a beast. And I mean that in a good way.
While you wait, you might want to read the Nikonians articles on the D200:
They offer some pretty good tips and insight into making most effective use of the D200. You're right, that 5 fps is really something to behold. I gave my D200 to a P&S friend for a moment, having set up the camera for 5 fps, and had a most wicked grin on my face knowing what was coming next. (She didn't know about its high speed shooting capabilities.) I told her to half-press once then just hold down the button all the way for about five seconds. She did so, and five seconds later, she had a very stunned look on her face -- "Wow, this thing is SO fast!". I then pointed out she had just taken 25 photographs. Her P&S could have only done 2 in five seconds, hence the stunned look. For me, the biggest rave about the D200 is its fast and accurate autofocus system which lets me immediately grab a shot even in action or low light shooting.
Enjoy your fine purchase, and I have only one request: come back when you have it and let us know of your first impressions!
