I ordered a D200 from B & H this afternoon about 4:30 mountain time. The charge was made against my credit card. A hour later I got an E Mail that said they had a technical problem and the camera was actually not in stock, but they would hold my order and charge for when they actually get in stock. I tried cancelling the charge, and got an e mail back on how to handle a disputed charge. I will see what happens when I call them in the morning.
Actually I think that is the more logical explanation. I ordered but have not receive the glitch email. I bought as fast as I could then I made another order for the mb200 and the memory card. I'll see tomorrow if my order was processed succesfully
>My guess would be they were selling so fast, between the >time you put it in your basket online and put in all your >info, they had sold more than they had, so they retracted >some.
I'm sure that's what happened. When they started taking orders everyone jumped in and within less than three hours they were sold out and had to update their website after the close of business Sunday at 5pm EST.
I made the cut and mine is in a UPS truck--should get on Tuesday

Well I didn't make it. I called this morning to see the status because it was still processing. They didn't find it in the system so they check with technical problems. A half hour later I received THE email, the one of the no more in stock due to tech problems.
Jeez I feel so frustrated.People that ordered after me are receiving the cameras with tracking number and everything. When I ordered there were cameras in stock still but my order dissappeared in the system. I'm so angry.
Anyway I respect B&H people, they are not like the Adorama guys. But I'm so mad...
I think this is exactly the case. We have at least 20 people here that jumped on B&H the moment someone mentioned they were taking orders. That coupled with other sites, and people walking in off the street, they simply couldn't mark the boxes in the warehouse as fast as the initial orders were coming in... at least that is my guess.
I've ordered many many things from B&H and they don't play games.
I called B&H this morning when I found that they charged my card, but didn't have the product and had canceled my order. They said that they did have my camera, but had to answer some questions about my VISA, so after answering them, they said my D200 would ship out today. We'll see?????

This happened to my brother as well. He got the email yesterday afternoon that there had been a system error. Then this morning he got a call to confirm the phone number on his card because it was a really old number. They seemed surprised by his thinking there was a problem and said they had his camera and it would ship today.
So maybe the email saying there was an error was actually the error!
Well I received the email today after they told me they were referring my case to technical department. I called at 9:00 am EST. Then at 9:30 I received the email stating the error. I called 10 minutes later and they told me the were very sorry but they didn't have any more cameras....
I made the orriginal post about order not in stock. I talked to customer service this morning and they said that they did have a camera for me and it would be shipped today. Too many orders at 1 time I quess and it goofed up their system.
I was not able to get in on the B&H rush this morning. When I called them at about 11:00 am EST (just a few minutes ago) a very polite and unflustered salesman said they were sold out. I said thanks, and then he said "Just keep calling back." What does that mean? Are they due to get more soon, or did he mean to call back next month?
I also admire his forthrightness. He admits there have been some mistakes and that the situation has been hard to handle. However, he firmly denies the charges of lying and deceitfulness that have been flying around. And I absolutely believe him.
Okay, so I'm worried again. B&H has sworn to me that I would be overnighted my camera today. It's now 8:15PM EST, and I still have not gotten a tracking number, and my account still says "processing". If Henry is still reading? Am I or am I not getting my camera tomorrow?
Never mind my last, I just got my tracking number woooo!!! Lots of stress gone. I still can't figure out how things were done thou. I ordered through the internet at 6:40 EST, and through alot of issues, I was able to get one. Thank you B&H, I will do my business through now. Adorama? Ain't going to ever happen again!!!!
B&H came through. I received my D200 at approx. noon today. This after thinking that I was totally screwed by them and Adorama. When I canceled at Adorama. The CS rep actually asked me why I was canceling?, and then laugh at me when I said I got mine at B&H. She said "They don't have any". I stated that the word "Got" is past tense, not future tense. I then laugh and hung up.
I ordered mine Sunday by phone around 5 PM est....received tracking number Monday....UPS has it and will deliver tomorrow (Wed)....guess maybe a phone call was better than thru the web....thinkin about taking tomorrow off and waiting for THE camera to arrive
Henry Thanks for checking into this matter. I never did get the camera. UPS seems to have misplaced the package somewhere. UPS says they are too busy to try and check into one package. The camera was scanned into phoenix Az. on dec 22. I live in Tucson Az. Delivery was scheduled for Dec 21. Tracking showed it was in phoenix for 36 hours and it was never scanned out of phoenix. Then this morning it appeared on the tracking website as being scanned out of Ontario Ca. I spoke ot B & H customer service this morning. Package is again lost.

UPS's web site says it's back in Phoenix, so I am hopeful it's back on track.
Carera left phoenix this morning at 7:30 but UPS doesn't know where it went. It has not been scannned since. Tucson is 90 miles south of phoenix. I hope they did not send it bacak to Onterio Ca. as they did 2 days ago. I have given up any hope of getting this camera delivered by UPS. They must have terrible problems.
830 friday night, Tucson time and still no package. Ups is playing games. I think they have lost package and keep trying to cover up while trying to find it. Probably employee theft. I will notify B & H tomarrow to cancell order and request a refund.
I would just like to say that I admire HenryP's involvement with this forum. There's obviously a lot of anxiety among some Nikonians over getting a D200 asap. All the hype and anticipation over the release of the D200 has created an impossible situation for all retailers.
Henry's willingness to go beyond his job description by participating and trying to solve problems is something that most retailers are not willing to do these days. B&H is now at the top of my list for internet orders.
The only other person of authority I know of who is so open with consumers, is Chris Martin of Martin Guitar. Chris and some of his top execs monitor and participate in the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum. Martin guitar owners are as passionate about their guitars as Nikonians are about their cameras.
This world would be a much better place if we had more people like HenryP and Chris Martin.
