Garmin Foretrex 101 works with D200?
I have MC-35 and Foretrex 101 and they will not work.
I believe all the normal settings are correct. I also have a yellow etrex which is working with the camera with MC-35. But I like to use the small Foretrex.
The Foretrex is also working connecting to a PC or PDA. So I am puzzled as to why it does not work.
Anyone has a Foretrex that is working with aD200 or can throw some light?
I believe someone has it working with a DIY circuit. Can it be that different electronics is needed other than MC-35?

The Foretrex only uses Garmin's proprietary communication protocol.
Nikon only supports NMEA-0183 protocol, a standard protocol.
So no, the Foretrex won't work with the D200. Most higher end Garmin devices allow you to choose the protocol, but Garmin has some devices like the Foretrex that have limited connectivity. NMEA is the default mode for most third party software, so beware of Garmin's proprietary products.

I messed up and got the wrong info on a Google search.
According to Garmin's specs you're right, the Foretrex 101 has RS232 and NMEA capability. So you need to be sure that NMEA out is set via the device's communication setup since the default is usually the Garmin protocol. If that isn't the problem, then perhaps it's a cabling issue.
