Cameta, has an auction for a D2x demo which is about $3,200 now? I think if I were going either way I would try Cameta first. This is going to be stupid but I am hoping we Nikonians will never do such a dasterly thing, then you never know

I seem to recall Cameta were selling the D2X for $500-$1000 over list when it was first released...
Joe, I'm sure somebody will pay that ridiculous price. Instant gratification? Not unusual to see a used lens sell on E-Bay for more than you can buy it new from B&H. I'm sure nobody from our group would do that. (You think?) I hope everyone really enjoys their D200 whenever it arrives.
There are several D200s on Ebay for $1000 over list and up. Wishful speculation or is anyone really going to pay that to get one a couple of months before the second shipment?
I wouldn't pay any extra for myself. I can shoot a lot of film for $1000, which is one of the reasons I didn't buy a dSLR until now. However, I can envision situations where one might pay a premium over list for someone else. For example as part of a marriage proposal.
