I have had mine for about a month now and I learn something new every time I shoot with it. Anyway, I was playing around taking pictures of birds in my backyard and noticed after pressing the shutter release half way, I could only shoot 2 RAW pictures continuously. I’m pretty sure it has always bee 4 in the past. Any ideas on why now I can only shoot 2?
...have enabled noise reduction. It will display 2 frames available in the continuous buffer, but will still shoot 4 anyway if the shutter speeds are faster than 1/2 second. If you want the frame estimate to display accurately in the viewfinder, disable noise reduction in the menu. You don't need it (and it doesn't actually perform) at speeds faster than 1/2 second.
Writing compressed RAW files would not decrease the number of available shots at all. It would merely make writing them take a heck of a lot longer. The Noise reduction setting is almost certainly the culprit. The is a great setting when needed, but is often a source of confusion when not.
NR was the culprit. I was going thru all my settings and changed that without realizing it would affect anything but long exposures. I just assumed it would only be active during long exposures. I have turned it off and will only activate it for those "special" occasions.
