Ever since I got my D100 I've been tortured by the weather: rain, overcast skies... so when I finally got some sunshine I jumped at the chance to try the camera out.

Bolton Abbey is a location I visited not so long ago with Bob Tomerlin (drjimbob) while he was in England on a business trip, so you can get some idea of how the D100 and D1 compare from the photos I posted on this thread.

The following were all taken using the AF-S 28-70mm f/2.8:

28mm, 1/125 sec, f/8, ISO 200, Centre Weighted, Direct Sunlight

45mm, 1/180 sec, f/7.1, ISO 200, Matrix, Direct Sunlight

35mm, 1/160 sec, f/10, ISO 200, Spot (from the walls), Direct Sunlight

38mm, 1/80 sec, f/4.5, ISO 640, Matrix, Shade

70mm, 1/80 sec, f/4.5, ISO 200, Matrix, Direct Sunlight

This last shows one issue I have with the camera - it's tendency to burn out highlights. I took the shot just as the man carrying the little boy stepped into the sunlight: as a result they're just about burned out, as is the bridge where the sun catches it.

Other settings for all shots - Tone Compensation: Less Contrast, Colour Mode: Adobe RGB

Shots were saved as uncompressed NEFs and processed using the Nikon View 5.1.1 plug-in for Photoshop.
