Just a quick comment. Just arrived back from Germany and have found an issue with my D100. Rear Curtain Sync does not work correctly. It fires twice! Once as the "curtain" opens and another just before it closes... That's not right? On my F5 (and every camera previous) the flash will only fire once, and that is just before the shutter closes...
So, does this happen on anyone elses D100? Or is mine faulty?
PS. I used both the internal flash and my SB-80DX.... same results.

I read about this... I think it's the way that it works... the first flash actually fires "before" the curtain opens to do it's D-TTL calculation and the second flash is the actual rear curtain sync flash...
some one correct me if I'm wrong..
just a side question, during normal flash mode, is there a noticible lag between when the shutter button is pressed and the flash fires and then the shutter fires? Because I think the flash should fire before the shutter is open as well for D-TTL. (Reading the reflected light off the grey surface of the curtain)

That's it - and it's just the same on the D1 series.
You've managed to make me rather curious about this now: I've never really noticed the monitor pre-flashes before, so I'm tempted to try rear curtain sync with a slow shutter speed to see what happens....
