Shot the sky, found dust on the CCD. So now I'm ready to clean it, and see that I need an external power supply to lock up the mirror. B&H has it listed for $95.00. Is there anything special about this power supply that justifies the exorbitant cost, or is it simply that Nikon used a proprietary connector to force one to buy THEIR supply at an inflated price? I imagine a generic device performing the same electronic function would cost about $10.00.

If my suspicions are correct, would a fellow NIkonian be so kind as to post the specs on the "authorized" supply, as well as the pin-outs on the camera, and I'll see if I can replicate the device at a far lesser cost, and will post the results of my investigation.

Regards to all.
