Well I want to thank foodle and vfnewman for all of their help in making this purchase, I think the D100 will be a welcomed addition to my bag.

I went down to Central Camera in Chicago at 8:30 AM this morning and picked it up for about 2100 after tax. Talk about a GULP, but hey isn't that what Discover Card's Cash Back Bonus Awards are for

I have it set up the way I like:

Continuous Shutter
ISO 200
White Balance Set to Auto
Sharpening Set to Off
Image Quality Set to Raw
Exposure Mode Set to P

Of course there were other settings I toyed with but by now I'm pretty much sure your bored to tears with what I've listed out so far.

Anyhow, my initial impressions were:

1. I can not believe how light it is, especially when compared to my N90S.
2. I can't get over how similar it feels to my old N80.
3. It does Auto Focus rather quickly much faster than my N90S.

Things I Already Don't Like

1. The buffer for continuous shooting being only 6 shots or less.
2. The time it takes to write to the hard drive.
3. Kinda plastic like feel. I'd prefer it to be a bit more tough feeling for lack of a better word.
4. I knew this going into this, but I really don't like the lack of FireWire. It would have been very easy to make things either Fire Wire or USB 2.0.
5. It would have been nice to see an option to shoot in B&W rather than color.

All in all I can't really say just yet if it's worth 2K. In terms of what was out there I certainly am very happy in terms of value, now the pictures will have to do the speaking.

Give me my D2Hs and 50mm 1.4, then step out of my way.
