Are these "G" lenses (28-80 and 70-300 w/o aperture rings) fully compatible with the D100 ?
What low cost, reasonable priced (new) 24mm lens would you recommend ?(since there's no "G" version...yet)

I have used both the 28-80G and the 24-85G ED-IF lens on the D100 with good results.
Below is an image with the AF Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 G Lens ($99.00 USD, http://www.nikonusa.com/usa_product/product.jsp?cat=1&grp=5&productNr=1927NCP):
And below is an image with the AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED-IF Lens ($350.00 USD, http://www.nikonusa.com/usa_product/product.jsp?cat=1&grp=5&productNr=2141NCP):
I like both of the G lenses I have used. The 28-80 is all plastic, but takes great images. The 24-85 is a marvelous lens all around. I would go for the AF-S version if I could afford it, as it is a really quiet and fast lens.
