Can someone direct me to information of Non-Nikon lenses that will work with the D100? I can live without the AF, but I can’t without auto-exposure. Does anyone know if Nikon is going to upgrade the firmware so we can use our older lens? Thank You
Any recent AF third-party lens should work well with the D100. The D100 will not meter with any manual-focus lens, Nikon or not (with the exception of the fairly rare 500mm f/4P lens).
While I can't speak for Nikon, I dont expect them to ever offer and upgrade or modification that would enable metering with MF lenses. The reasoning behind this has been discussed at length ever since Nikon started making bodies like this. Nikon, of course, never really reveals why they do anything.
There is a further option - you can get the electronics installed in some older MF lenses that tell the camera it's dealing with a modern optic. Obviously it's still manual focus but the metering works.
For the life of me I can't remember the name of the guy who does the conversions.
