Hi,

Looks to me like the new Canon is now offering a number of features that where already available in the Nikon D100. For a side by side overview of the D100 compared to the Canon 10D.

See http://www.digitalreview.ca

The Canon now has improved AF compared to the earlier D60 (was a weakness compared to the D100), High ISO up to 3200 like the D100, improved color space control like the D100 etc.

The way I see it, the major benefit of the Nikon system is the new DX lens format. With a D100 and the 12-24DX lens you get the coverage of an 18-36mm in 35mm terms, whereas with the Canon you are limited to the 17-40mm "L" zoom lens which offers the equivalent 35mm wide-angle coverage of a 27mm -64mm perspective.(1.6x factor)

IMHO, the Canon's big advantage is the current price ($US 1500 vs $US 2000 for the D100) however, the 'buzz' is that Nikon will be adjusting their price in the next couple of weeks..

Isn't competition great, lower prices for all..

Best regards,

Petur
