Hi Nikonians: I am living in Germantown Meryland, and any Nikonian knows where I can find the lens repair store in this area?
I have a Nikon 28-70mm AFS F2.8 lens needs to be repaired and cleaned. I just damaged my lens last night, which aperture could not be adjustable. And inner glasses need to be cleaned because there are some tiny fibers.
Please tell me how much it cost for repairing? I moved here not long ago and it is my first time seeking for lens repairing.
You'll have to send it to Melville, NY. There is a Nikon dealer in Baltimore that I've dealt with - Service Photo. They could pack your lens and send it but I'm sure the'll charge a fee. You can contact Nikon service and send the lens youself.
When I lived in the DC area in the 80s there was a place on Wisconsin Ave. near Tenley circle in the District that was a Nikon-only repair shop with a great reputation. I took in a Nikon F with a 55mm lens that I'd picked up that was in rough shape and it was like new when he was done with it. The name of the shop was Mora Camera Service. Small, personal, and they could do most anything on a Nikon. Reasonable prices and decent turnaround times. Their work for me was always first rate. Last time I was in the shop was 1990 when I was in the area on a visit and had them replace the LCD display in my F3 viewfinder. Don't know if they're still in business or not, but it's probably worth checking out. Hope this helps.
dont bother going to the repair place on wisconsin Ave, Tenley town. I went there some months ago, the address is now some other business.
Another alternative in DC is Pro Photo on 1902 I street NW, http://prophotodc.com/ I had my 80-200 ED repaired there. I went there when strauss said they would take quite some time to get the needed parts. quote turned out to be cheaper too.
Thanks for you providing the address. I just got the direction and connected with Struss. They asked me to bring my lens there and then checking. I will go serverl stores (Penn carema, Mora and Ritz). Actualy, I do not have much repairing budget. If it cost me too much, I will rather than to get another used one.
