D200 lens compatibility with various nikkor lenses
this could have went in either the lens or d200 forum but seeing I just ordered a d200 I'll post here. This is my 1st Nikon DSLR and Im planning on a 70-200VR, 28-70 f/2.8 and 12-24DX. Its obvious to me the DX is fully compatible but the 70-200vr specs give a list of fully compatible nikon cameras and the d2x is not on the list (the D200 isn't on any of them but I understand its too early). The 28-70 didn't say but I seem to recall reading about compatibility issues w/that one too. any thoughts would be appreciated as these lenses are coming out of my wedding fund.... Thx

I would like to add that I am a mac user with the latest OS. Is there something I should know about a potential conflict here as well? I have only used i photo with MAC so this is going to be new to me.

There are very few lenses that will not fit on the D200. I'm not sure what the issues would be with non-AI but anything after about 1980 should work just fine.
The only thing you need to remember is that the sensor is smaller than 35mm film so the angle of view of a lens is going to be different from that of 35mm film. If you haven't used a lot of 35mm film then it really won't be an issue for you. As a general rule, for the DX sensor anything from 10-14mm will be a super wide angle. 15-20mm will be wide angle, 21-60 would be 'normal' lenses, 61-140 will be telephoto and longer than that would be long telephoto.
I'm a Mac user also and though I've never used Nikon Capture or other DSLR software, you should not have any problems. I've used NikonScan for years on my Macs. Adobe Photoshop is fully supported on the Mac as are virtually all printer drivers.
