A couple days ago I noticed my batteries draining rather rapidly. When I go out to shoot, I usually leave my camera (D200) on.

I try to explain it as straight as I can.

The camera is turned on and sitting on the table. The memory card light comes on about every 4-5 seconds and while the light comes on, the display on top - exposure and/or aperture settings - take on a life by themselves and the numbers change in rapid succession.

This drains the battery really fast when I leave the camera on.

Does anyone have an idea what causes this? I thought of a variety of things but nothing was the right cure. Any help/suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
