Daymon, The D300 is a super camera, as Dave said. I have been shooting for two years with mine, and love it. You are wise to read about its many settings and options. It has never failed to do what I've needed it to do. You will see people around this site bemoaning its "lack" of low light performance. As an old film shooter who never shot any film faster than EI 800, I love shooting noise free at 3200. I use the flash on the camera only occasionally for outdoor shadow fill.
It seems that many of the posts in this forum now are written in hopes a D400 will appear. I was beginning to think it should be called the "Anticipating D400" forum. Maybe we D300 enthusiasts can breathe some new life into this place. Welcome!
