I have installed the Picture Controls that Nikon released soon after the D300 came out. Found them here http://nikonimglib.com/opc/. Once installed on the camera I now have D2XMode1, D2XMode2, D2XMode3, and Portrait.
Portrait is self explanatory, but the names of the other 3 are less than helpful. Can anyone help with the best situation to use the other ones for please?
Also, once the compressed files were unpacked there were 5 NOP files, one of which was named LS NOP which I assume is Landscape. However, this one does not show up to load from the card to the camera, and there is not an empty slot for it in any case. How do I access this one?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The other three Picture Controls are of limited general value. They were aimed at folks who shot a D300 and a D2X side-by-side and wanted the images to have the same characteristics in colour, contrast, etc. If you're not one of those people, you can safely ignore them

D2X Mode I is close to Neutral
D2X Mode II is almost equivalent to Standard
D2X III is very close to Landscape
So, as Brian suggested, if you already have Neutral, Standard and Landscape in your camera .... no need to bother.
Have a great time :-)
