I was shooting with the focus mode set selector set to single focus area, and the center point selected...and while setting up a shot with some people, the focus sensors in the viewfinder start to flash in red, one after the other like Christmas lights, and it changed the focusing point, even though I had the center point selected and didn't touch the multi selector. Then I set it back to center, and it kept trying to shift to a different focus point for no reason.

Hello Al, did you find out what the problem was with your D200? As you may know you can down load a free copy of View or View NX2 from Nikon USA here; http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61 then you would be able to see the exif data and focus point. I'm not sure if View NX2 is compatable with the D200, as it was stolen, however I still have the manual.
