So you can't bring yourself to build the D400 that a ton of us would like . . . how about a D300x? Easy to do too. Just grab the 24MB sensor and X SPEED 3 processor from the D3200, crank ISO capability up to 12800, add 1080 video and a shutter rated for 250,000, and keep it in the current D300s pro-spec body, and 8fps, (with the new safe batteries of course, but add a new battery insert for the MB- D10 so we can keep the grips we have).
VIOLA a D300x! Oh, and sell it for about $1700.00!
I think the D400 is coming and with the specs you mention. Spring 2013?
D600 price point seems to allow for this too. Although personally I hope they don't dumb the D400 down just for price point reasons. For example a D400 needs to have an endless buffer with a fast XQD card like the D4. On the D4 there is no practical way to actually fill the buffer
