A CF card is small beans. I've laundered an iPod Touch and fished a Nokia flip phone out of the sink. Both were unusable for a few days after which, having dried, they restored themselves. Give it a little time and I expect you and your card will be together again.
Glad to read everything worked out. A couple of years ago I had a CF & SD card go through the washer & dryer. Both survived and work to this day. I will admit though I don't use them for anything real important, just in case, well and peace of mind.
Well, I guess we can add this experience to the tales of washer cleaned CF cards. I followed the advice about embedding the card in rice and when I checked it earlier this evening, everything was fine. All the folders were there and in each was the set of images I put there. Amazing!
Now that the card has come through the ordeal we can discuss the relative merits of using the various varieties of rice. My choice was brown basmati rice(admittedly the 1st thing I found in the pantry), but Jasmine rice, plain old Carolina rice and others may work as well.
There might also be a concern as to whether this rice embedding method is registered in the metadata attaching itself as part of some sidecar file.
Finally, if one cooks and eats the rice used, will it improve their images?
Seriously, thank you all for your assistance, comments and support. As always, this proves that the Nikonians website is THE place to go for answers about things photographic.
