I finally sprung for the D300s and I'm glad I did. My D300 will remain with me as well.

But I am having a minor problem when using my Tamron 18-270. Shooting goes well for a while but then I get the ∆F symbol. If I shut off the camera and turn it back on it may or may not go away. Alternatively, if I gently jiggle the lens at the mount it may or may not go away. When it does go away and I can shoot again, it does fine for awhile and then I get the ∆F symbol again.

The situation does not happen with any of my other lenses (Nikkor, Sigma or other Tamron). I had this problem once before with my D200 and, based upon advice from this forum, I got a contact cleaner brush. The problem back then was resolved. So I tried it on the contacts of the 18-270 lens with no improvement. I am leery of cleaning the camera contacts --the D300s is less than a week old.

I'd appreciate any advice.

enjoying many years "playing through the viewfinder"...but now getting more serious about making quality images.
