I'm new with D300. I'm having a problem others may think it's a silly question to ask. I'm trying to rename my custom setting and shooting bank. However, I can't replace the old name. It doesn't seem there is a delete butten or the cursor mover to replace the original name. When I tried to enter the new letter, it is just added in front of the original word. Can some help? Thank a lot.

G'day Zheng, welcome to Nikonians.
To delete an existing character use the same delete button you use to delete pictures. (It looks like a rubbish bin, just left of the viewfinder). To scroll within a word, use the checkered thumbnail button (third one down on the left) together with the multi-selector.

There is a help feature built into the D300. When in the menus, if there is a question mark displayed in the lower left corner, help is available for that menu item. Just press and hold in the button with the question mark next to it (button just below the MENU button) to get more information.
For example, while renaming your custom setting bank, press and hold the button with the question mark next to it and you will see your options for navigation, inserting text and deleting text.
Check page 24 in your D300 User's Manual for more info.
