Noise Reduction In Camera for D300
I was using this for a while and I was wondering what the consensus is here, it is better to apply noise reduction in post-processing when shooting raw?

Hmmm, is there a noise reduction feature in the D300? Are you trying to say to lower ISO during shooting rather than PP later using software?
Definitely if I can shoot at the lowest ISO, I would.

To be a bit more verbose on Bukitimah's response, you left off the second half of your comparison. Slightly rearranging your question:
When shooting raw, is it better to
(a) apply noise reduction in post-processing,
or (b) to __________ ?
Seattle, WA, USA
D200, 17-55mm f/2.8 DX, VR 70-200mm f/2.8 II, 50mm f/1.4 D,
18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 DX, 70-300mm f/4-5.6 ED, D70S

I don't think you have a choice shooting raw. It's my understanding that the high ISO noise reduction is read and applied to raw files upon import by NX2, if you use that software. If you use Adobe software and shoot raw then noise reduction is definitely done post processing.
I have my high ISO noise reduction set at normal. I shoot raw + jpeg and do little or no post processing to jpegs.

Are you asking about the Long Exposure Noise Reduction feature (page 262 in the camera manual), or the High ISO Noise Reduction feature (page 263)...?
