Someone know the easiest way to open NEF from my D300 into Photoshop CS2/ Wndows XP....DNG not working, says "No files converted" everytime I try to convert.
I have installed ACR 3.7, gotten rid of ALL Nikon software, and have DNG 3.7.
I just want to open my NEF files in Photoshop....PLEASE!!!

have DNG 3.7
I think you need DNG Converter version 4.3.1 or later (
but not too late, must be for CS2).
You might want to use my NEF2ACR program which automates the process.
See NEF2ACR Instructions and Program under Downloads at my site.

Unless this has changed recently, the DNG converter is a freestanding program that doesn't need any version of PS to work, but rather confusingly Adobe bundles the latest version with ACR 'for CS3'. You need to download one of the recent (at least 4.3.1) combined ACR + DNG converter packages, throw away the ACR 4.x plugin (it won't install in CS2), but use the new converter to make DNGs from your NEFs. You can then import the DNGs into CS2 via ACR 3.7. Once you have the right versions of both ACR and the DNG converter, you can use Bill's tool to make the process easier.

You can not update CS 2 to read D300 NEFs because you will need at least ACR version 4.0 which is not compatible with CS2. As noted you can download the latest DNG converter to convert D300 NEFs and then open the NEF in an Adobe product that can handle the DNG format.
The current and past production downloads for the DNG converter:
DNG Converters for Windows
DNG Converters for Macintosh
See Digital Negative (DNG) for more information about the DNG standard.
The current production version is 4.5 there is a beta 4.6 in Adobe Labs.
