Depth of Field not working on my new D300
I am new to photography and got my D300 today.
I press the depth of field button, and I can hear the iris close, but nothing is displayed on the LCD screen.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

That button is used when looking through the lens. Not sure whether it works on the LCD. Also, is the lens wide open???? There will be no real change then. Stop it down and you'll see the difference,,,,, the view will get noticeably darker as you peer through the lens.

You might also need to give your eyes a few minutes to adjust to the DOF preview in the viewfinder. If you have trouble, you can put a towel over your head or somehow shield your eyes and viewfinder from the light. That helps to see the DOF.
