my first impressions were it's heavy (compared to d70) but after a week or so it doesn't feel heavy at all

initially I expected to take the thing out and point+shoot like I did on the d70 but due to lower default ISO and more pixels I ended up with a lot of blurry pictures (many more than on the d70)

today the sun came out,. I went to a local zoo which I've visited many times with the d70 and overall I am very pleased with the shots (I still have a long way to go). I tend to use jpeg a lot and I accidently set the jpeg compression to 'normal' rather than 'fine' - but even given that the images at 100% are pretty good.

as the light started to fade I went to iso 400, not something I've done much in the past but the d200 is more sensitive to shake and the higher isos are perfectly usable (noise reduction turned to low).

nearly all shots on 70-200vr jpeg with compression normal, size large.

baby leopard @ 400iso the white balance is off as there was a strong yellow reflection on the glass, the only change I've done in post processing is to up contrast (a lot) a remove the veiling reflection

different one of the leopard resized

I've turned off all the 'auto' settings, sharpness is set to normal, contrast/tone is -1 and saturation normal

few more from the day @ http://oneoddsock.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=25

the handling and improved af with things like shorter mirror blackout is what wanted and that is delivered no question
