I got my D4 yesterday and am pleased with the improvements over the D3s, especially in some of the options for settings. However, i find a few things to be mysterious:

  1. The f5 & f14 "Assign Sub-Selector" options are: "Focus point selection' or "Same as multi selector". However, I don't see any way to set the multi selector to do anything else but select the focus point when you are shooting. So what is the point of having any selection options for the Sub-Selectors? Am I missing something?

  2. f8 "ShutterSpd & Aperture Lock" makes no sense to me. It seems to me when you set the ss in S or M mode, or the aperture in A or M mode, it is essentially "locked". What does f8 do?

It seems to me that as cameras are getting smarter, I am getting dumber!
