In a nutshell the D2H is 4mp with hi FPS , D2X is 12MP slower FPS but with a crop mode that allows 6mp shots at 8FPS, D2Xs is basically just a firmware upgrade from the D2X with the exception of a better LCD and Mask when in crop mode I believe. I shoot with a D2Xs professionally with a D200 as second body. I never actually shot with a D2H so if there is something else I missed someone please chime in ! Pro body handling is awesome and addictive I love it !

I seem to remember my D2x locking focus faster. I don't shoot with it very much any more. The H was nice as a locked down remote, but I sold it last week. Not sure what I am going to replace it with. Maybe another D600 depending on things go for me next weekend. Might look to pick up a D3.
Having used the D2x and D2h together a lot, I'd say that the AF differences are as near to zero as I can account. The frame rates are drastically higher with the D2h - so if that's what your requirement is, there's a very clear choice. Other than that, I'd go with the D2x or D2xs. As noted above there's little operational difference between a 2x and a 2xs other than the LCD.
In theory the D2h goes higher in ISO, but in practice not so much. The noise is better controlled on the D2x, and by the time you end up with something headed to the printer, the nominal 2-stop difference has mostly disappeared. They're both pretty noisy by today's standards, unless they're near base ISO.

I have now ordered a D2XS with 47,700 actuations - unfortunately I will have to wait until late December to get my hands on it - that's the trouble of living in the UAE - no post, so I am waiting for my parents to visit for Christmas so they can bring it with them. I have seen it thanks to the wonders of Skype - tantalizing to say the least but it looks in good nick - even has a eye cup added - the round one (not sure of the part number as yet). Manuals, brochures and reviews are being studied intensely on line so I can hit the ground running as it were.
I am hoping it will compliment my D200 making a good working combination - it will also be my first Pro Nikon - after years of shooting "nearly pro cameras" - FM, FM2, FE, FE2, N90, N90X, D200 - I finally get my hands on a single digit body!!!
