I have a D3S and found I rarely use it for low light and high shutter speed. I have a D800 on order and will sell my D3S soon but would also like a D3X second hand. I have seen them going for less than £3k in England with low shutter count, has the second hand market price dropped in the USA as well ? Any thoughts would be welcome.
The D4 announcement, on 6th January 2012, has led to a price drop in 2nd hand high end Nikon cameras. And more since the D800's on 7th February 2012. Check the sold prices on Ebay completed listings. I can buy for about AUD$4000 (£2500) an Australian D3X today with 150k actuations.
I got my 28-300mm lens in August 2011 when I owned 2 DX cameras, a D5100 and D5000. I intended to buy a FF Nikon but the 2011 range did not excite me. I would have considered a cheap D3X. So I asked for weekly emails from Ebay Re: Nikon D3X over $1000. I stopped when I got my D800 on March 26th 2012.
With the D800, D4, D3200 Nikon's serious sales IMO must affect 2nd hand prices. Speculation on the D400 and D600 doesn't help. The D700, D90 and D300 also seem due for replacement.
