I am so excited tomorrow is upgrade day, I will be picking up my brand new D4 tomorrow after shooting my D300 for about five years. I don't know if I'll even be able to sleep tonight.
So to post pictures do I need to upgrade to silver? I am very new here, so hello to everyone as well.

Congrats on the new tool! You are going to be so amazed once it's in your hands. I have been shooting my D4 for a couple months now and I am still in awe. I picked my my D90 today to box it up for eBay and it felt so weird in my hand. The D4 is a work of art and a real pleasure to shoot comfortably all day long if that's your goal.
I am not too sure about the membership, but personally I feel this is a more gear oriented sight, not a photo critique place. I am not against helping the brand out though. I just do it by buying their merchandise. The books are very well written, and I enjoy them thoroughly. There is a Nikonians workshop actually coming to my town, but unfortunately I am out of town fishing that week.

I am finding the D4 AF kills coming from a D300 / D700 - let us know if you feel likewise.
I have this subjective impression that I just wave the D4 in the general direction of my subject and wham bam every photo is in perfect focus!
I sold my D300 this week. Bit of a fire-sale ($550) but with 72K actuations it was necessary to get below the low actuation models for sale locally to get any offers. I started the sale off asking $675 so I'm OK with that. Had to make some room in my bag for the D4 as I had too many cameras and the D300 wasn't going to get brought along.
With all these D600 rumors, I think I'll dump the D700 too. I don't like keeping equipment around for limited purpose especially if the market price might drop.
Anyhow the D4 is causing major disruption to my kit! This is particularly because I am finding it to be a very versatile camera, useful even in situations where I didn't expect it to be (birding).
Best regards, SteveK

Steve coming up from the d300, the D4 absolutely kills, its shocking. I also think that in the last few years we have come to a time that digital everything has reached a mature state of being. I think we are in a very lucky time, that whatever comes next be the D4X or D4S, it may not be better, just different. I have found this to be true with audio at my studio,
(my bread and butter is audio recording). Digital has gotten so good results with new digital products are not better, they are just different.
I have to say, I grew up as a kid with my grandfather in his darkroom. I had my own for years in my parents basement and as an adult. When I bought a digital camera (D200), I went with it. I honestly can say I don't really miss the whole film process. The one thing that I never got over with digital was the cropped DX format. Picking up the D4 with the FX sensor is huge for me, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this but I now realize that I never really got used to DX format. Not to say I wasn't getting great shots, I just finally feel like I'm home.
At the end of the day the D4 does everything better than my previous body, I am very impressed. The only way this rig will take a bad photo is because of user error.
