Yesterday during the middle of a wedding my D3s stopped focusing correctly. The camera was indicating that there was correct focus, on single mode; beep, solid green dot in the view finder, but looking at the LCD screen the images were all soft.
I have yet to check every possible combination of camera to lenses, but I did check my lenses on my D700 and that did not yield any issues.
I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge or experience w/ such an issue. This camera has been reliable for 2 years now.... never had any problems.
Mick- I have not checked... finished at 2am and off to teach at church this morning... but wanted to check in. I will actually look later.
But your question- the diopter would not affect what was showing up on the back LCD screen would it, only in the viewfinder, correct? If this is true then relying on the AF to focus would not affect what I see in the viewfinder...?
Thanks- I know we need a little more info to give a better clue... but wanted to get this out there right away... I have weddings every weekend this month and the problem is getting this issue resolved is crucial...
Doug, You state that the images look soft on the LCD, but you didn't indicate what the images look like on your computer monitor. Are they soft also? When you get the in focus confirmations, is the viewfinder actually in focus?

1/100th, w/ VR set to on. I am quite steady here and the issue seems to be back focusing... not lens blur. But I am keeping an open mind to what Nikon comes back with after looking at several of my photos.
