D1: Taking images direct to computer screen
I've read through the manual and it has only confused me. I'm curious to know if I can hook up my D1 to the firewire port and somehow shoot images directly onto my computer screen so that they appear not as a thumbnail but as a full size image. Even better yet if I could directly have them imported into photoshop.
I'd like to start using it in the studio, and have moved my computer in there as well. I would like to be able to immediatley check the full size image on my screen instead of using the LCD back.
I got the idea while watching a pro photographer shoot with a medium format camera and a date back attached to it (I know this is a must with that setup). I'm using a Nikon D1 with the original software that came with it.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

The short answer to your question is that you must first have "Nikon Capture" software. Note this is not "Nikon View". I'm not sure you can have them directely loaded into PS, though.
I don't have NC, so I can't be of much more help to you. Someone here might, or a search of some other newsgroups can probably tell you more.
