Winter's on its way here (Montreal). It can easily get to -30 C, and is usually colder than -10 C for much of the winter.... and then add in some wind chill!

My camera (a D2X) operating instructions say it's good for 0 to +40 C.

Does anyone have experience of using these cameras in real cold conditions? Do they freeze up and not function? Can such temperatures cause any lasting harm?

I hope not, or that there are ways around it, as the winter can provide some stunning photo opportunities!
