Metz 45 CL-4 non digital with D2x
Hi all, I have been given a Metz 45 CL-4 and I would like to use it with my D2x, I am having trouble deciding which connecting lead/adapter I need to get the most out of the flash. It has a TTL function so I guess I will need a hot shoe adapter to get the info from the camera to the flash and a correct lead.
I see from the Metz website that there is a recommended adapter for the CL-4 Digital model. I don't think that would be compatible with the non-digital model. Any advice welcomed.

Welcome to Nikonians!
You will have to use the Metz 45 CL-4 in Non-TTL Auto mode or Manual mode, with your D2X set in Manual exposure mode. The standard Metz foot or even a standard PC cord can be used to connect the Metz to your D2X. This is how I use my Metz 60 CT-4 and 70 MZ-5 with my DSLR,s. They still work perfectly using TTL control on Nikon film bodies, but not Digital bodies. The new 76 MZ-5 works perfectly with Nikon DSLR,s. The TTL system on the non-digital versions of Metz flashes is not compatible with the i-TTL flash control on Nikon DSLR's.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

My Metz was my pride and joy for years shooting Olympus OM-1s. As pointed out, you can only use it in manual mode on digital. Still, that's how I always used it anyway.
