Guys, I'm new to this forum and need some help. I recently bought a WT-4 to operate with my D3 but I'm having problems connecting to my ASUS notebook. Most of the time the WT-4 is "invisible" but once in a while when I'm able to see it in my wireless networks menu and I try to connect it appears to connect but instantly drops out and I need to connect again. So far I have not achieved communication even after at least 200 attempts in all orientations and at varying distances. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you trying to operate in infrastructure mode, with a router, or ad hoc mode? I've never heard anything particularly good about ad hoc mode. Even if it means buying a router, I strongly suggest you try infrastructure mode. I've used the WT-2A on the D2X quite a bit, and the operating principal is no different.
This little guy from D-Link is highly portable and is a real swiss army knife:
I don't have a WT-4 or Camera Control Pro so I am not in a position to provide much assistance. I do use the WT-2A with my D2X. It was a bit of a computer science drill to get it working. Luckily I set up a wireless network at home so I had a basic understanding. The ad hoc mode will provide the slowest connection, so I use a router in infrastructure mode. That may be the easiest mode to set up. Let the router assign the network addresses. Firewalls can also block connection so if you have one you might want to turn it off while you establish communication.
