I have been sticking to various Forum trying to get first hand news on new DSLR, and there are far too many. Some are more convincing than the other, but it all come down to offical announcement. And for the PMA, it is only one day away.
Amit I am going to take a wild guess: YOU ARE A CANON USER. Do not misunderstand me, I have nothing against anybody using Canon, Hasselblad, Pentax or even Olympus, after all it is not the camera, right? I can talk on my behalf but I cannot or intend to do it for others. To me if Nikon wants to announce a camera or a new lens, that is their business and honestly, it does not concerns me. I use a D1X and a D70 along with a Canon Sureshot A-540 and, for now, that is all I need. "Technology helps, but it does not take pictures" I said that. So, if Nikon wants to introduce a new camera that is fine and if they do not introduce one, that is fine too. Now, if I were to sell Nikons that would be a different story... William, I am not a Canon user. You can see in my profile its all Nikon there. But I am getting tired of these D3 threads now. Some of my friends are Canon users. I play with their gear when we shoot together and I respect their choice unlike some people here who act as they are self appointed brand ambassadors for Nikon.
Earlier when the new Canon pro model was launched someone put up a thread here because may be he wanted to see how the pro camera users react to it. I think it was a post with some valid justification but the moderator "moved" it to cafe. I dont think that the thread was out of place here. Its just my guess that the poster wanted feedback from people who chose a camera over a second hand car.
On the other hand you can create a thread with D3 "jokes" and thats not against the rules here. Moderator on this site means forum-god. You cant have a healthy discussion here with the word Canon in it. So call it the dark side or whatever. But you can make ridiculous threads as long as its just Nikon talk. Yeah I am a Nikonian as much as anyone else on this site but I hate the double standards here.
We'll all just have to wait and see....all this hysteria just because CANON came out with their Mark III, is laughable, to say the least. I would love to see NIKON offer a new camera -- and full frame would be terrific. However, until we have some information that is, as the lawyers like to say, objectively verifiable, I think we all just need to relax, enjoy what we have, and save our pennies...because whenever a new NIKON body comes our way, it won't be cheap, that's for sure.
could make sense, 15 fps, however useless, and however much you complain you will never use it, will attract alot of pros, regardless of how impractical it is.
FF + only 3.5MP (for pj's, thats usually more than enough, although we do want a higher MP count, like fps, however unreasonable, we want it, more is more, no question) will generate low noise, were talkin like iso 12800(if thats possible) and iso 6400 will be much cleaner than canons, iso 1600 will be the new iso 400.
makes sense to me, afterall, im happy with a D2Hs and whats .5 MP lower?
I guess as a semi-pro photog, I guess I just never understood all the speculation and hysteria these types of things usually generate. I guess as Nikon loyalists, we would all like to have bragging rights over those "other" guys. But honestly, in my case it wouldn't matter if Nikon came out with a 100% noiseless, full-frame, 20 megapixel camera that shot 20 fps. I'm not going to buy it. For one thing I'm absolutely in love with my D2Hs, secondly I don't need it, lastly I can't afford it. Out of curiosity we should take a poll: If Nikon announces a full frame, 15+ megapixel, pro body tomorrow, how many of you would be prepared to drop $5000 to $7000 to have it?
>a mod's sense of humor is just as rare as the truth about >the D3.
What are the odds that I'd open two threads in two days and see you taking shots at moderators without any apparent reason?
Might I suggest that if you are anywhere near as unhappy as you seem, you seek alternative forums which better meet your needs especially since you cannot seem to grasp the idea of taking your issue(s) directly to the person via a email conversation as opposed to hijacking threads with your continued assaults?
I come here to exchange info and ideas, not to hear your biased and unreasonable attacks on mods.
I probably would not buy the D3. However, I expect a D3 will be followed in a year or so with a D300 -- similar capability, about 40% of the price, and possibly a pound lighter. So I am curious to see what -- if anything -- Nikon comes up with.
I'm fairly certain I won't get a D3, unless it's to replace a D2X which has been destroyed or stolen. I agree that a D300 might be a more interesting proposition.
My general perception is it's usually the hobbyists who are the most ardent in clamouring for new kit. Pros tend to stick with ancient equipment as long as it carries on taking pictures that make money. I stayed 10 years with my pair of OM1s. The only reason I moved from the D100 to the D2X was because it had a couple of features I need -- viz, instant shutter activation, and enough MPs to do a billboard.
Absolutely right, but not hobbyist, dealers, who else but a few rogues. Photography v money, Nikon v Canon, Ferraris v Porches, Cats v Dogs, and so on and so on.... Its always been that way with the internet.
