So, could this be the solution?

Is shooting in B&W mode with a D2Xs produces both JPEGs and TIFFs (see Rob Galbraith's review), or what Rob really means is that the D2Xs, just the same as D200, tags a RAW file as B&W and/or produces a JPEG fully rendered as B&W?

As if the TIFF production is the case, am I correct to assume that this solves all problems in regard to the best possible B&W, straight from the camera, image quality? Better than RAW followed by B&W conversion?
