D2x & the LE Noise Reduction Setting
Forgive me if this topic has been discussed. Every month at full moon and sometimes other, I get out and do some night shots. I have always had this option turned on. If you have used this, you know that it takes double the time for your shots. Some of my shots are 15 to 20 minutes exposures. This can be a pain when guessing exposure times and freezing your buns off. Can this feature be turned off and then worked/used in Nikon Capture? Also, sometimes I feel that the noise reduction doesn't help much, and wondered if any of you have tried other software methods with sucess? Any help or suggestions, is greatly appreciated!

No, it must be done in camera if you want to do it. It works by recording a dark image. Anything that records in it is deemed to be noise and then subtracted from the actual image. Unless you take that second dark exposure, there would be nothing to subtract out in Capture later, so this won't work.
The only other noise reduction option is to use a program like NeatImage or NoiseNinja which is generally more for high ISO noise, but will work for both types. Your first line of defense against long exposure noise though is the in camera long exposure noise reduction.
