I have a Nikon D1 and the few problems I see with that camera is the amount of grain at 1600 film equivalence and the colors are off. I want to know if those have been improved on the D1h please post if you have used both cameras and could please comment. I have to make my decision in 2 days.

I don't have a D1 but D1h has far better noise control (and especially pattern noise control) than D1. D1h also gives you the choice of Adobe RGB or sRGB working spaces. D1 gives you none (many say it's more like NTSC).
So the choice is apparent. If you could afford a D1h go for it and forget the original D1.
I believe the D1H has a much better noise in low light conditions. Here's an example I took yesterday in my garden for fun. The subject was hidden amoung the leaves and branches in the shade so a high ISO setting was necessary to shoot it with any decent contrast. 1/20th at f/6.3 with the 105mm and a 2x TC without activating the noise control function!
The image is straight out of camera and nothing has been tweaked. I haven't compared my D1H shots to those of the original model, but most people seem to agree that it produces better images at higher asa settings.
